1977 STINGRAY by Stern
I just finished fixing up this game for me. I got it from the Coinopwarehouse like some of the others. I had this machine 6 years ago and wanted another one. Took 2 years to find one with paint on the playfield. These 3 pics are the 'as is' shots that I have been trying to get BEFORE I start restoring.
Here are a couple of closeup shots of the playfield. Just dirty and not too much wear. The game was complete and even the center kickout hole plastic was there - cracked but there. All the rubbers are dried hard in place and have to be peeled off the post as usual with a game that has been sittting in storage for many years.
You have to have a few tools and a little know how if you are going to pickup machines in 'as is not working' condition. Someone had tried to remove the head from the body with some of the bolts still in place. Some screws, nails, clamps, and a little Titebond wood glue and it is better than new. The cabinet bottom also needed glued and clamped.
This ballview pic on the finished playfield is just waiting for the launch of the first ball.
Three pop bumpers in a nice tight area makes for some great action. With the rotating function kickout holes above and below the pops makes for great scoring too.
Gracing the playfield with her charms is this lovely young lady dawning scuba gear.
The droptargets on this game really never come into play.
I love to play in a room lit only by the lights of the games. Stingray has joined the gameroom lineup.
